As we wait for a new server able to support the platform, I wish to inform you of the roadmap decided and the goals of the platform.

Notice that on gnOO, the "free" word (for free software) is replaced by the French word Libre to avoid the double meaning of "free". This ensures the reader will wonder about the meaning of the word meaning some kind of freedom, and not duty free.

 

The gnOO project aims to become a european reference point to enter the Open Source world. Below are the steps :

• A list of all widely used libre software with their details, among which are license, direct download link, end-user and developer documentation link.
• Quick introduction articles linking to more detailed ones.
• Communication tools : several ways to access the same data to avoid split between forums and lists. A place for argumented debates and not for any kind of customer support.
• Spread the news with RSS feed from the major information sources, to create critics or translate news.
• Innovating project support : hosting solutions and advices for innovating libre software. Such project will have to follow a chart.
• Promote art : galleries for libre art pictures (no game screenshot, nor GUI except if there is a real artistic content).
• Promote art : bookshelf for libre books (not documentation)
• GIS (gnOO Information Service) : be informed of any new release of your favorite software.
• Evolve itself through Mahatma and Flyspray (bugtracker), gnOO will evolve to suit expressed needs.
